Well… once we entered the town it became rainy and grey, we made a little circle and realized that the town is really tiny, later on we found the right street of my flat and entered it. I met people, I visited cities, I tried different cuisine, I even drunk beer, started to use my German (poor try but worth a shout), stayed over at a friendʼs place, had my toothbrush at someoneʼs place, attended art classes in German, pointed with a fire, started to love rain and wear my raincoat everyday, rode my bike to Denmark and back, collected berries which everyone was afraid to eat, spontaneously bought tickets to Portugal and enjoyed the sun in December there, had some Glühwein with my friend Sasha&Dome in Dortmund, hosted a cross-a-world-with-a-bike traveller from Belgium, danced in the Kaffehaus with my pals, attended karaoke night with some strangers, organized an exhibition at the most beautiful street in Flensburg, lost a bag of my clothes somewhere between Germany and Poland. Out of the long list of possible places to study at, the best option was 5 km away form the Danish border – a little town called Flensburg. Even when I hear from many people that Erasmus is only for those who are party people or for those who want to skip classes (actually I picked the best negative opinion about it, because of the censure) I know that this person has had a completely different experience than me. I used my student life as much as I was able to, I just became myself again, going wild without any regrets (ofc everything was legal lol). I did the stuff which I had been afraid to do earlier in my life. Below you will find a story about my second (out of three) Erasmus experience and about the city which has the worst weather but which gave me the best student experience in my life. One of the most important criteria for me was to be close to Scandinavia, a dream place which I keep idealising in my head. And believe it or not but if someone would have asked me if I would do this experience once more you know, my answer would be “yes, of course”.

Inside WG (flatmates) were partying and drinking and speaking German with a weird accent… all I said in that moment was “welcome to the North, now youʼre stuck in the cold and will start to drink”. The city with a cute harbour, fresh fish sandwiches, many blond haired people, a funny local dialect and with the most northern university in Germany. Even if I badly miss my friends from Flensburg we already made it to see each other in May.
